Thom Leslie is an Asheville native and second generation criminal trial lawyer who began practicing law in Buncombe County in 2013. Growing up here in the mountains, Thom left Asheville to attend school where he graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Psychology. Thom worked numerous jobs in Sales and Construction and eventually decided to attend law school. Thom graduated with honors from the Charlotte School of Law in 2013.
Following in the footsteps of his father, William H. Leslie, Thom accepted a position with the Buncombe County Public Defender’s office in November of 2013.
As an Assistant Public Defender, Thom enjoyed representing indigent clients and acquired significant experience in trial and negotiating with the state. Thom has handled a wide range of criminal matters, and works hard to make sure his clients are informed, prepared and counseled through difficult times, like being charged with a criminal offense.
Thom looks to bring his significant criminal experience and trial skills to our office and to serve our clients compassionately and aggressively. When Thom is not practicing law he enjoys the outdoors, running, playing soccer, and spending time with his family.
